Period Properties in Spain brings you unique, good value homes with a touch of history. Most of our houses are in tranquil countryside or mountain settings, some needing refurbishment and some where the work has already been done.
We are based in Aragon and while most of our properties are from that region, we do have some houses from other parts of Spain. |
Period Properties is an English-Spanish alliance between me, Catherine Dolan, and Sol Ayllón and her daughter Lua Buera.
As a journalist I had spent several years writing for UK magazines about Spain and the Spanish property market so had a very clear idea of what British buyers look for. I live just below the foothills of the Aragon Pyrenees with my Spanish partner, Juan, and our two daughters, Sofía and Laura.
Following industrialisation and the subsequent exodus to the cities, many houses and even entire villages in Aragon have been abandoned and left to fall into disrepair. I had often seen these properties and thought how popular they would be with UK buyers who want a renovation project, but I didn’t know my way around the Spanish bureaucracy.

Then along came Sol and Lua who have been selling properties within Spain for many years and had often thought about offering them in the UK but didn’t speak the language. Why not join forces and work together? From the beginning we all agreed this would be the perfect partnership and so far it has been.
Lua lives in the heart of the Pyrenees and has inherited from her mother a love of old houses, art, natural history and photography. Lua spends her time looking for houses, photographing them and puts as much interest into every house and every client as if it was her own.
Sol lives just outside Zaragoza and is delighted to be involved in a project like Period Properties which will help restore the houses of the past for future generations. Sol has an in-depth knowledge of the property market in Spain and loves nothing more than getting stuck into heavy paperwork, something most of us dread.
She has an immense list of reliable local workmen from builders and plumbers to lawyers and hotel owners. Thanks to this we are able to offer a complete service. We’ll reserve your hotel, find you a lawyer, put you in touch with electricians, carpenters or whoever else you need to help you. We’ll even search for your dream home if you can’t find it. |
